Who is this for?

Artists who want to experiment and expand their creative knowledge.

Artists who love mark making, and/or textile design.

Children or adults, lessons can be adapted to meet age/ability.

The course workshops:

  • Adapted screen printing

This lesson you will be learning an adapted version of screen printing. I will show you how to create prints with a screen printing finish, without using a screen! This can be adapted to textiles if desired.

  • Adapted block printing

This lesson you will be learning an adapted version of block printing which is originally done with wood. Instead we will be creating our own blocks out of scrap materials which we will print on paper or fabric if you have any available. This can be adapted to textiles if desired.

  • Adapted lino printing

This lesson you will learn how lino print utilising old rubber materials such as hot water bottles, flooring.

  • Mono printing

This lesson you will learn how to create stunning monoprints with a range of materials. 

  • Relief and rub

This lesson you will learn how to create relief prints, and rubbings of textures and surfaces on a wide range of materials.

  • Mark me up (bonus)

This lesson will be about getting you to  experiment with every day materials and objects to create marks. I will show you a few of my favourites and various collage techniues you can do with the marks you create. This can be adapted to textiles if desired.

Materials required:

  • Paints
  • Pencils/pens
  • Paper/newspaper/tissue paper/cardboard/old fabric (anything you want to use/can get your hands on)
  • Rolling pin
  • Heavy books
  • Recycled materials

How it will work:

If you decide to take the course, you can book on to the sessions. Each session will be a hour long, not only will I be teaching you techniques I will be able to answer your questions you have around printmaking techniques and industries. The course is £50, which works out £10 a session with a bonus one for free!

Learning how to create Lino prints without necessarily using Lino making materials.

Mono printing

Creating mono prints from a range of materials.

Relief and rub

Learning about relief technique and also create your own.

You will never look at a object or material in the same way again after this session. The possibilities of the marks they can make will encourage you continue producing textiles and prints using objects and materials around you.

My name is Lucy, I am a multi-disciplinary artist and designer. I have a MA in Mixed Media Textiles from the Royal College of Art. I am an experienced craft maker and freelance artist. I have experience of many strands of the arts having worked continuously as a freelance artist, tutor and workshop facilitator in a varied outlet of creative jobs.
