For many years I was employed by Cardiff Metropolitan University to teach students on the Art and Design Foundation Course as Technical Demonstrator in Printmaking. Projects that the students work on require hands-on engagement with a making or drawing process, taking inspiration from the work of artists and designers and developing visual ideas through experiment and play. As an artist and printmaker myself I have always relied strongly on different art processes to transform and enrich my work, seeing each process as a creative journey. Printmaking has been my chosen medium for many years and it is an area of fine art about which I remain passionate.
As an arts practitioner I have worked in a range of settings including festivals, schools, libraries and hospitals. I have delivered numerous projects over the years, usually involving an aspect of printmaking, illustration or textiles. I run regular classes from Cardiff Print Workshop in specialist printmaking processes such as etching and wood-cut, as well as beginners courses for new members and the public. In recent years I have been employed over the summer months to deliver free arts and crafts workshops to children at various music festivals based in the children’s area of each. For these activities I make hand printed flags with children and their families using various transfer techniques designed to allow participants as much creative freedom as the process will allow.
