    Originally from Essex I have lived in The North East since 2008 with my daughter who has physical disabilities and emotional issues. I originally did a degree in textiles at Wolverhampton University in the 1990's but studied for an MA in Fine Art in 2020 at Teesside University.     I've been on a creative journey for over 20 years, earning a Bachelor's and Master's in Fine Art. My work featured in exhibitions like "Come As You Art" and "Mirror Mirror on the Wall" in 2021, even amidst COVID-19 challenges. I also designed a poster for "The Shadow Pandemic" in Brighton, raising awareness about domestic abuse during the pandemic.

    M.Kala was born and raised in Congo, then moved to France where she studied French literature specialising in African narratives at Sorbonne University. She observed similar bonds in craft, as she became increasingly interested in the African art. With jewellery, she realised that she can choose materials according to a space and story-line. She studied fine jewellery at City Lit part-time.
